HYPE Teen Center
H.Y.P.E. stands for Helping Young People Excel. It is the umbrella for teen focused programs and services at the Detroit Public Library (DPL).
The HYPE Teen Center is a teen space on the first floor of the Main Library, just off of the Woodward entrance.
HYPE Teen Makerspace
The HYPE Teen Center Makerspace is a collaborative workspace equipped with a variety of tools for making, learning, exploring, and having fun! For ages 13-18.

- 3D Printer Station
Come try out our new Bambu A1 printers. Staff will assist you in creating something cool. - Music Studio
Create your own music using our equipment & software. - Podcast Studio
Do you have something to say? Create your own podcast or radio show. - Gaming Systems
Switch, PS4, Xbox, and Board Games - Sewing Station
Sewing machines are available. Must have assistance from a staff member

Monday, Thursday & Saturday 2:00 – 6:00 pm
Tuesday & Wednesday 2:00 – 8:00 pm
Sunday 1:00 – 5:00 pm
Get a HYPE Teen Card
The HYPE Teen card is a library card that also gives you access to the HYPE Teen Center at Main Library.
Sign up at the HYPE Teen Center or Main Library Circulation.
The card is for teens ages 13-18. If you're just turning 13, bring your DPL Juvenile library card and we'll convert it to a HYPE Teen card.
